And I Go Back To Black

Back to Black - Amy Winehouse

I got this hoodie a long, long time ago for my birthday, and just recently, I found it tucked away with the rest of my sweaters. Yes, that's right-- this is another one of my hidden treasures. I think the last time I wore it was my freshman year of college. Actually, I know that's the last time I wore it, thanks to photographic evidence. Nonetheless, I'm ecstatic that I rediscovered it. It's made of a warm wool blend, has great beading detail, and the best part is the hood! Lately, I've been gravitating towards navy blues and blacks when it comes to my daily outfits. I'm trying to get out of this bruise-colored outift slump, but I always find myself running back to black. Although, last week I did buy a delicious peach colored vintage dress, which is very unlike me, but I can't wait to share it with you all. Tell me, what are your secrets to escaping color ruts? Is there any color you would like to see me try next? Maybe a nice bright banana-yellow? Okay, maybe not, but seriously, let me know what you would like to see more of, and I'll do my best to not look like a rejected crayola crayon.

  3. I know just how you feel! I try to incorporate color, but for some reason I fall back into a black funk, although it's a pretty fabulous funk! I'm also loving navy blue, there's something very classy about it. Very cute outfit dear!

  16. I love your outfit! I love it when people wear predominantly black outfits but still don't look like they're going to a funeral. I don't know - it's just something that really makes me happy. Because I looove black. My entire closet is basically different shades of gray and black. I try to balance it out w/ colorful tights - when I'm in a color-rut, I wear all black with mustard yellow tights or something. Or another vibrant accessory. This comment is getting pretty long.. so I'll stop.

  23. I'm loving the navy blue and black together, and those shoes are seriously amazing! I definitely agree with you on the color rut though, I tend to do the same thing - maybe try branching out into other dark colors that are almost as neutral as black, like forest green or a deep purple?

    Lovely post!

  25. First of all, I love black and navy together. That combination can do no wrong, in my eyes.

Secondly, I love it when I find items way in the back of my closet or at the bottom of an unused drawer. It's like you went shopping, but spent no money. That hoodie is definitely a forgotten treasure.

Last, but not least, I love your hair curly! It's so pretty!

  32. That navy skirt is so lovely! I like what you're wearing. You should wear what you want, not what we want! That said, it's always fun to try new things and sometimes break away from the norm....style must evolve, after all - both personal and social. Definitely looking forward to seeing your pretty pink vintage score!!

  35. There's nothing wrong with all black. I mean, I was at the Gap a few days ago and when I got up to the register I realized that all six items in my hand were black.

Black is the new Black. At least, I'm convinced ;)

Love your shoes! & I have that same skirt.
