Pink's Hot Dogs 709 North La Brea Avenue Los Angeles, CA 90038
I am ashamed to report that even though I lived in Los Angeles for four years, I never made it to Pink's once. Believe me, it was on my bucket list, and I swear I thought I'd make it there at least one time. I always told myself I'd have time to go, and then I pushed it to the next weekend, and then the weekend after, and then the next thing I knew, I was on my way back to San Francisco! So, when I knew that I'd be back in town for a couple of days, it was clear what my mission would be: GO TO PINK'S HOT DOGS. I mean, come on now. Who lives in LA and doesn't visit the famous hot dog place? Everything you've heard about Pink's is true. The hot dogs are delicious, the line gets pretty long, and the prices aren't that bad for what they are. Although, for some reason, I ended up spending a lot more money that I thought I would... but maybe that is because I got a huge specialty hot dog, chili cheese fries, and a fancy old fashioned soda pop. I ordered the Philly Cheese Steak Dog, which had peppers, onions, steak, and cheese all over a nicely sized hot dog and bun. The only thing I didn't care for too much was the melted cheese on the top. It made things a little too salty, and I thought that took away from the essence of the hot dog. The chili cheese fries were absolutely amazing, but also heart-attack worthy, as the portions were large, so do beware! My friend, Eve got the Walk of Fame Dog, which oddly enough, had coleslaw. Now, I love coleslaw, but coleslaw in a hot dog? I don't know about that. She loved it though. I didn't try a bite, so I really can't say whether or not it was tasty. All in all, Pink's Hot Dogs is definitely a place to try for late night eats or for an afternoon lunch. It's safe to say that it's a place I'll try again, especially since there are just so many hot dogs to choose from!
