Food Friday! It's here! First, I have to apologize at how unsavory these photos look, haha. It was quite hard to take photos of food on a red table cloth, under a red heat lamp. Hopefully, however, you will still find them somewhat tasty :) Last month for my birthday (I know, these photos are OLD), the mister took me out to one of his favorite food spots in the city, Pier 23.
Any restaurant that has a bangin' seafood menu gets me going, so you know this girl was excited. As we entered the restaurant, the live band was playing and the place was packed, so my hungry tummy was getting even more excited. Once seated, we ordered the calamari and clam chowder to start. I order calamari just about every place I go because it's my favorite appetizer, and this one did not disappoint. So unhealthy, but so good. And, the clam chowder hit the spot just right. I can't say it's the best I've ever had (because that title goes to a restaurant in Seattle), but it was definitely tasty and worth ordering. For my main course, I ordered the Seared Tuna Sandwich with a side of fries and the mister got his favorite Crab and Shrimp Sandwich. Because the portions at Pier 23 are huge, I was only able to eat half my sandwich. If you like tuna, you'll like the sandwich. The tuna was fresh and the herbs were refreshing. I took a bite of the Crab and Shrimp Sandwich, and I have to honestly admit I liked it way more than my own. If you do travel to the pier, you will definitely be okay sharing an appetizer and one of their huge main courses. Next time I'm there, I'm ordering the shrimp and crab sandwich, for sure!
