Imagine a day where all you do is eat and drink - sounds heavenly, doesn't it? @OnlyinSF (San Francisco Travel) hear this foodie's prayers and granted me two tickets to the annual Eat Drink SF fest (formally SF Chefs fest). After three hours of nonstop eating and drinking, I felt nothing but painful happiness. I can't even begin to tell you everything I ate that day, but I will say that I made it about 90% of the food booths. Scroll for more sights to delight those tastebuds & find out which dishes stood out in this foodie's mind.
My favorite dish was Frozen Kuhsterd's Thai Tea ice cream (holy smokes, guys!) - it was so good I came back for seconds...or thirds. I also really, really loved Souvla's lamb soulva, which is very reminiscent of a gyro. While the lamb was seasoned perfectly, what really stood out was the pita bread used to make the wrap. Not only was it soft and warm, but it was seriously melt-in-your-mouth good. I have to make it out to their shop on Hayes and sit down for the real deal. I had my first sea urchin and octopus food experience - octopus is definitely keeping its no-go title for me, but sea urchin gets a pass. And, not pictured above, but worth the mention is Ghirardelli. Okay, okay - we've ALL had Ghirardelli, but they previewed their new dark chocolate line and coming from someone who does NOT like dark chocolate, you've gotta try it. If you do, try their mango, cherry, or sea salt dark chocos. You won't regret it! It was also nice to see a couple of restaurant faves at the festival, including Scoma's (remember this post?). As far as beverages go, I really loved Goose Island's "Sophie" brew - nice, light, and a bit citrusy. Thankfully, there are many days ahead in which I can scout out all these restaurants in the city for a proper sit-down meal. Can't wait for that.
