Mochi Ball Heaven

Oh hey guys! Remember me?? It's okay if you say no, I'll understand, as I apparently decided to be M.I.A. this whole month. I promise to be a better blogger next month. If you will believe me, I'm going to tell you that I haven't been posting this whole month, not because of my lack of desire to shoot my outfits, but rather because San Francisco has been quite unpredictable with its weather patterns. That's right, I'm blaming it on the weather. Literally the last two times D.J. and I attempted to shoot on location, we got rained out. And, as my luck would have it, every single time the sun would come out, I would have work. So, as a result, I have all these amazing outfits and accessories saved up for future posts. And, if you are wondering why I don't just do indoor shoots, it is because these outfits are meant to be seen in the sun. But don't you worry your pretty little heads because pancakeSTACKER is coming back in full force this March. Speaking of, can you believe the month is already over??

Cuz You Can't Deny You've Blown My Mind When I See You Baby I Just Don't Wanna Let Go

A little while back, I received this beautiful Plastic Island Dark Romance Blouse from Shop The Far Out, as a prize from Song of Style's giveaway. When I opened the giant box in the mail, I was so thrilled with the alluring detail of the blouse. In fact, my photos probably don't do the blouse enough justice, because the sheer fabric, the unique cut, and the gorgeous back stitching is even better in person. And, as you know, I'm making a conscious effort to wear a bit more color in my life. So, the rich green color of the blouse is just another added bonus to my closet. I paired the blouse with some red and black jeggings and a good pair of chunky wedges. Now, normally, this outfit and color combination isn't something I would normally put together. But, as soon as I pulled out the jeggings from the pile of pants I keep hidden in my drawers, I knew it was a match made in heaven.

Stereo Love - Edward Maya and Vika Jigulina

Funny story: We were initially on our way to shoot at a different location, but as soon as I passed by these old, abandoned brick buildings, I knew it would be the perfect place to snap some photos. So, stop we did. This sketchy "security" guy parked across the street and attempted to hide his obvious creeper curiosities, but it was quite obvious he wondered what we were up to when we started setting up to shoot. DJ and I like to blast some tunes while we shoot (something about the music helps loosen us both up), so I guesssss I can see how it would be kind of weird to the observing eye when two ladies are blasting what sounds like trashy techno club music and pretending they are on an episode of ANTM (America's Next Top Model, for those who weren't sure). I assure you my musical tastes are a bit more than that, but I do love me a good guilty pleasure song every once in a while. At the very end of our shoot, after we made our way through the nooks and crannies of the abandoned lot, we found the cutie-patootie horse you saw up there. He was a very friendly horse, but I was still reluctant to pet him. Definitely saw him GNAWING on the metal bar before he approached me, and I just got my nails done, so I was not down for that. Would have made a great photo though, eh?

Warm Me Up

Pho Phu Quoc 1816 Irving St.

The gist: Words cannot express how delicious this meal was. Maybe it was the cold San Francisco breeze that made this place more appealing, or maybe it was the bursts of flavor that I experienced with every bite. Either way, there is no where I would have rather been that afternoon than sitting inside PPQ with some hot tea, a stack of magazines, and some good company. As you already know, DJ and I spent the latter half of that day eating ice cream and photo-stalking cute children. Pre-pistachio ice cream, DJ suggested we get some Pho to warm us up, so we stopped into one of her favorite spots, since we were already in the area, and boy am I glad we did.

Sunny Side Up

A few posts back, I told you I had more photos to share from my lovely day off in the city. Well, here they are! After stuffing ourselves silly with our Off The Grid deliciousness, Alex and I hopped on the Muni to get in some quality vintage shopping time over on Haight. I spent entirely too much that day, but I figure you can't put a price on a great day. My best buys were definitely the vintage floor length lilac dress I found at Held Over and the sheer-lace panel maxi skirt I picked up at The Wasteland. Fear not, both items will be making an appearance on my blog soon enough. We took a midday break from shopping and enjoyed a relaxing happy hour, where we both overdosed on garlic-cheese fries. Why Alex and I thought we were able to eat anymore food after our gigantic lunch feast from only a few hours before? I couldn't tell you. All I know is, there was something obviously alluring about $4.00 margaritas, a guitar player strumming outside, and the sunshine beaming through our windowsill seating.

pancakeLEFTOVERS: January

January has been the most incredible month. Looking back onto previous years (with my extremely poor memory, mind you) I can't remember a January that has been as amazing.  I knew going into the new year, that 2011 would be an awesome year. Why, you might wonder? Well, for one, 11 is my lucky number. 2011 also happens to be the Year of The Rabbit, which, you guessed it, I am. Rabbits are also supposed to be extremely lucky animals. So, that's three for three right there. What else? 2010 was a year of endings for me (college, relationships, jobs, etc, etc). So, naturally, I  concluded that 2011 would be a year of beginnings. And you know what, it has been. So, true to pancakeSTACKER nature, before saying hello to another magnificent month, let's take one last bite out of January. Please also turn up your speakers and enjoy this bumpin' song, which basically embodies my current mood in musical form.

I realized that I never showed you guys my NYE outfit. Well, here it is! I wore this beautiful dress by Guess and shoes from Forever 21.
Yes, that is a real cat. And yes, he wanted to be in the picture.
