Transition

Hello my lovelies! I have been packing and packing and packing nonstop this weekend, driving from Los Angeles to San Francisco to Los Angeles and back again. After hours of packing, moving, driving, and more driving, it is safe to say that I am nothing short of exhausted. Thus, instead of whipping out a careless and hasty post, I thought I would leave you with an editorial shoot that I couldn't get enough of a few months ago. While throwing out my collection of fashion magazines (think boxes and boxes of Vogue, Elle, Vanity Fair, Allure, etc. etc.), I came across an old French Elle magazine from earlier this summer (circa July 2010). This was one magazine I couldn't dare let go of because of this enchanting Charlize Theron center spread (but it did help that this international version was the size of a US Teen Vogue and barely took up any car space). So, with that I leave you with a few of my favorite shots from the spread! Do any of you have any old magazines you can't dare toss? If so, please share some of your favorites with me!

Also, DON'T FORGET that my guest blogger debuts this week and you don't want to miss it! I'll also be sharing some more exciting post-grad updates for all of you. Enjoy the start of the week, everyone! P.S. Don't be shy, please share any thoughts/suggestions you have for my blog below :)

Color Splash

Earlier this week, I mentioned that I had some updates on my post grad life. Well the first thing I want to mention to you all, is that I'm moving back to San Francisco! I was originally offered a position that would allow me to stay in LA, but after a string of endless nights trying to come up with the right decision, I realized what I already knew. Don't get me wrong, I love Los Angeles, however, after four years, I need a break. I will miss the amazing food and the great friends I've made throughout the years (you all know who you are!), but I am definitely thrilled to return to a simpler life. Another thing I will greatly miss is the beautiful weather and the amazing scenery. These pictures my friend snapped are my favorite because I think the vibe and the bright colors wonderfully express my inner happiness and excitement for my new path!

Ring My Bell

Some of you might have already noticed my obsession with unusual rings. What you might not have been able to tell, however, is that I have abnormally slender fingers. People have often cringed after finding out that my perfect-piano-playing, long fingers have gone to waste. I, on the other hand, cringe when I find a glorious ring that isn't in my size. After a recent trip to a thrift shop, I nearly died when I saw a whole glass case of uniquely crafted rings. But, to my dismay, I left with nothing new when all the rings slipped off my size six fingers. If anyone knows a solution to my problem (that doesn't involve sizing down a ring), please share!

The beautiful green ring from above almost fit, but almost doesn't count. Maybe I will come back and purchase it anyways after I figure out a solution to my ring finger problem. The ring below is my own and was purchased from Forever 21. If you have the same problem as I do, choose a simple design which will allow you to get away with wearing a ring on your thumb. Alternatively, if you love a ring so much and can't bear to let it go even after it doesn't fit, you can pull a Carrie Bradshaw and wear it as a necklace.

The Happiest Place on Earth

Hello everyone! I apologize for my lack of posts in the last week! My good friend came down from SF to visit before her big trip to Europe, and I completely shut myself off from my computer. I'm back now, and I have a ton to share with you! There have been some interesting developments in my post-grad life, which I will be sure to share with you in the upcoming weeks, so stay tuned! But for now, I will leave you with some pictures from my trip to Disneyland from this past weekend. I was lucky enough to score $10 tickets, can you believe that? Now, I realize this post is very low on the fashion (please ignore my Casual-Friday-like clothing--it was 90+ degrees and comfort was of the upmost importance!) and food (I honestly devoured it before even thinking of snapping a pic), but I promise to treat you guys to some great posts later this week!! What did you guys do this weekend?

Baby When the Lights Go Out

I've often passed by the LACMA museum while on my way to a concert, the mall, an internship, or a friend's place. While stopped at a red light, I've caught myself gazing at the beautiful and entrancing light bulb structure, promising myself that one day I'd just get out of the car and finally get a good look at the whole thing. Well, that day (or night I should say) finally came, and I got in my car and decided to look around. Admittedly, the whole plan would have been better if I actually made it into the museum itself, but I reasoned that LACMA is just one more place I'll eventually need to cross off my bucket list before I leave the beautiful city of LA behind.

There Must be Somethin' in the Water

In the words of Katy Perry, "Nothing comes close to the golden coast." At least, that's what I constantly tell my California-native boyfriend, who stubbornly chooses to live on the east coast, over living on the west side with his California Gurl(friend). As you might remember, not too long ago, my special someone came to visit, so naturally a trip to the beach was a must (after all, the beaches on the east coast cannot compare!). So, I slipped on an easy maxi dress and off we went! 10 points to whoever can name what beach I'm at! (Here's a hint: Katy Perry sings about it in the aforementioned song).

Now, I'm a bit afraid to share this bit of info, but you will die when you find out I got this dress for only $8.00! One day, I was browsing through the sale racks at Forever 21, spotted this gem and grabbed on to it for dear life. The color, design, and overall feel make me feel so happy whenever I put it on!

Take Me Away

Earlier this week, you might remember that I took a little adventure to LA's Chinatown with my special someone. While you already got a glimpse into what I greedily stuffed myself with for lunch, you didn't get to see what I wore...until now. I wanted to go for a comfy and casual feel because I knew I'd be doing a lot of walking through the town. So, that's what I thought I was doing when I slipped on a plain white tee,  kept it minimal on the accessories, and wore my favorite summer wedges, perfect for another beautiful day in LA. However, as soon as my 6'2'' boyfriend and my 5'5'' self (5'7'' maybe with those wedges on) wandered through Chinatown, I noticed scores of stares as I hid behind my aviators. I'm not sure if it was our towering presence (because everyone else seemed to be slightly shorter than us), or the fact that I was prancing around in wedges and appeared to be some overdressed monster model, but the stares did not go away until we got in our car and drove away.  Either way, the adventure was a success, the food was delicious, and I scored a cute gemstone necklace for only $3.00!

Two of a Kind

I have a bit of a confession. I've always had the problem where if I like something so much and I can't decide between two of the same thing in just a different color, I buy both colors. That's exactly what happened with these wedges that I purchased a few weeks ago. In my defense, however, the shoe boutique I purchased them at was having a buy one get one free sale. So, how could I not get both pairs when the total came out to just $30?? These brown ones are just as comfy as my black ones that I've worn quite often in the past few days, so I'd have to say I made the right decision there. Today's high 70/80 degree weather was the perfect day to slip on this lovely summer dress. I was particularly drawn to its vivid colors and cute bib detail.

Fortune Cookie Say...

If you haven't figured me out yet, here's a hint: I'm a girl who likes her food. My taste buds tingle at the thought of a delectable food prospect. I get giddy with unfaltering glee when I've made plans to meet up with a friend for a bite to eat at a place I've been dying to try. And, when I find a spot that fills the void like no other, I stay more faithful than some who have made vows of forever on their wedding day. Yes, food and I have a special relationship. One day, I know it will backfire, and food will turn on me like a catty fifth grade "friend." But until the day that I find out that food has stabbed me in the back with a butter knife, I can't say I mind. These last few days have been so wonderful because not only did I get to appease my craving for a pleasantly satiating meal, but I also got a special visit! And I'm sure everyone can agree that the only thing better than enjoying a tasty treat, is enjoying it with a special someone :)

Here is a sneak peak of some food shots that were taken while I adventured into LA's Chinatown.

To the Telescope

It's strange to think that it took me the summer after graduating college to finally get on my bucket list, however, it's not hard to see why Griffith Observatory made the cut. With its breathtaking city views, amazing natural landscape, and uniquely crafted architecture, Griffith Observatory should certainly be on everyone's list of sights to see in LA.

When I first tried on this top, I was on the fence about purchasing it, as I reasoned I could easily make it myself. However, upon closer inspection, the arm detail and the comfortably soft material won me over. In the end, it was a great decision. Interestingly enough, I felt the same way about these red brick denim leggings, or jeggings, the first time I spotted at Urban Outfitters. I'm not much of a denim wearer, but I do love my leggings. After lusting over the striking color and admiring the stretchy fabric, I decided to just go for it, and I was pleasantly surprised when they rang up for only $10.00! In the end, the two contrasting colors served as a perfect outfit for a day at the observatory. Where will you guys be this weekend??
