Beauty Bites: COSMEDIX

I've been trying to make more time in my week for the stuff I love - yoga, blogging, weekly bouquet runs - aka "me" time. Different from my last dose of "me" time, the things I'm doing now are less about mindless relaxation (otherwise known as vegging out, or Buffy marathons on Netflix) and more about personal productivity and overall zen. In that "zen" bucket includes elusive massages (counting down the days until my next one!) and pimping out (yes, I said "pimping") my beauty routine. And what is more "pimp" than a fabulous facial? Not too much. So, when COSMEDIX invited me to try their customized facial at SenSpa, it couldn't have come at a better time.

For those who may not be familiar (and truth be told, I wasn't until my facial), COSMEDIX is a skincare brand that focuses on using "the science of nature to deliver results." Their tagline, "Clinically smart. Naturally beautiful," best describes their science + nature duo.

COSMEDIX Purity Solution - deep cleanses and purifies skin without stripping skin of its moisture
COSMEDIX Emulsion Hydrator - provides deep hydrator with liquid crystals and shea butter to quench dry skin
COSMEDIX Simply Brilliant & Radiance Serum - the first is brightening serum meant to fight discoloration, while the second helps the skin retain its moisture, while reversing the signs of aging
COSMEDIX Pure Enzymes - gently exfoliates and lifts dull surface skin (smells delish; use every 7-10 days)
COSMEDIX Eye Genius - tackles three eye issues: dark circles, puffiness and fine lines

You all know by now that I love testing beauty products and skincare. The only damper to my love of beauty is my sensitive skin. In fact, a few weeks ago, I ran out of the moisturizer that I've been using for over a year now and decided to try a new one I had in my bag of goodies. Let's just say my face freaked out and my fear of switching up my skincare grew a bit. So, since my face was feeling the burn of my curiosity, I was slightly hesitant to give a facial a go. Luckily for me, COSMEDIX's claim that their products are "gentle yet effective" rang true.

My aesthetician at SenSpa couldn't have been more delightful. I let her know my qualms, she examined my skin and then got to it. We talked about my AM/PM beauty routine, my fear of chemical peels (which she successfully talked me out of, as I opted to try a gentle one during my session), and of course, COSMEDIX product education. As each product went on my face, my skin felt more and more revitalized. By day three post-facial, I noticed my skin to be brighter, less dry and less red.

I left with a bundle of goodies to add to my morning and night time routine and couldn't have been happier. Between me and you, I get most excited when I find a moisturizer that's easy on my face, so the product I'm most jazzed about is COSMEDIX's Emulsion Hydrator - it's got a deliciously yummy smell and a fun little color! For those who are jonesing for a treat yo'self day, definitely try out SenSpa in the Presidio - it's far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the city that you actually feel like you're in a retreat. The space is gorgeous and the staff is delightful.

Special thanks to the COSMEDIX team for inviting me to try a customized facial at SenSpa - my face and my inner zen thank you.
